Dr. SALLIE
NORQUIST, PhD, is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience. She is
co-founder and director of Chaitanya Counseling and Stress Management Center. Dr. Norquist
is especially excited about assisting clients (through life coaching and therapy) to
access their own inner wisdom, to lead more empowered, enlivened lives. She views health
as something achieved through active involvement on the part of each individual in
respecting, honoring, and taking responsibility for their physical, emotional, mental, and
spiritual needs. Since 1997, Dr. Norquist has been writing a weekly column for the Hudson
Reporter, in Hudson County, called "Enlivening Ourselves." She has
experience assisting clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, panic
attacks, relationship concerns, spiritual issues, grief, chronic illness, a desire to
uncover their true life purpose, and a need for overall enhanced well being in their
lives. She is currently training in Somatic Experiencing (SE), a body-oriented
psychotherapeutic technique, that is especially effective in healing trauma, and managing
anxiety, panic and anger. |
| CHRISTIE BARNETT, APN, EdS, RN is
a licensed and board certified Advance Practice Nurse with 20 years of experience. Her
specialty is psychotherapy with adults, both individuals and couples. Other services she
provides include supportive counseling for people with chronic or life-threatening health
problems, and holistic lifestyle modification coaching to reduce/control disease risk
factors (Type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hypertension). |
BARBARA GIZ,
LCSW, MSW, earned her Master's Degree in Social Work (with honors) from Fordham University
in 1991. She is a bi-lingual N.J. Licensed Clinical Social Worker, providing therapeutic
services to children, adolescents and adults for over 15 years. These services include
individual, family and couples therapy (in English or in Spanish). She has extensive
expertise in trauma cases including sexual abuse, loss and death, divorce, and accident
cases. These clients often suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, and/or
Anxiety Disorders and the treatment includes cognitive/behavioral therapy, relaxation
techniques, and supportive therapy. Ms. Giz provided crisis counseling to survivors of the
World Trade Center disaster. She also has experience in working with children who suffer
from Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity and provides parenting skills training
to parents. In addition, Ms. Giz has a "Field Work Instructor Certification"
supervising M.S.W. student interns from various universities, including NYU, Fordham
University and Rutgers University. She is also a member of the National Association of
Social Workers. |
| EMMY MCBRIDE, LCSW, has
experience working with adults suffering from anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive
disorder, panic attacks, sexual and drug abuse and eating issues. She has had additional
training in the areas of Trauma, Anorexia and Bulimia. |
| IDA URSO, Ph.D., Educator,
Spiritual Counselor, a practitioner of meditation and the esoteric philosophy of the
Ageless Wisdom for twenty years and a Certified Integrative Therapist from the Institute
for Transformational Psychology. |
| DIANE YOUNG is a Senior Faculty
Trainer at the American Center for the Alexander Technique in New York. She teaches in the
music department at SUNY (Stony Brook) and is a trained CranioSacral therapist. She also
teaches meditation and provides Subtle Energy healing sessions at Chaitanya. |
| XIN ZHENG, OMD,M.Ac., is
an Oriental Physician and Acupuncturist licensed in New York and New Jersey and is an
instructor and supervisor at the New York Institute of Chinese Medicine. Her
practice includes both acupuncture and traditional chinese herbology. Xin graduated as a
Medical Doctor from Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1985 and has
extensive clinical, teaching and research experience in internal and neurologic disease,
with particular emphasis on pain management. She is the author of numerous research
papers on acupuncture. |
