| Many of us are so used to experiencing the symptoms of
stress that we dont notice them anymore. You may recognize some of these symptoms in
yourself, and empowered with this awareness, consciously choose to make positive changes
in your life to reduce your stress levels. |
A short list of common symptoms of
stress |
Nervous reflexes, which includes biting nails, clenching the jaw,
grinding teeth, hunching shoulders, tapping feet, holding breath, etc.
|
| Another way stress manifests is through changes in mood,
such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, frustration, habitual anger, feelings of
helplessness and hopelessness, impatience, irritability, restlessness, constant fatigue,
and in general, feeling depleted, spiritually, emotionally and physically. |
| A third category of stress symptoms are stress-related
behaviors, such as aggression, disturbed sleep patterns, tearfulness, feeling compelled to
do several things at once, emotional outbursts, leaving jobs undone, over-reacting,
talking too fast or too loud, taking your frustrations out in interpersonal relationships,
an increase in smoking, eating or alcohol consumption and drug use. Increased intake of
sugar and caffeine, forgetfulness, and susceptibility to accidents are also stress-related
behaviors. |
| With continued over-stress, we can develop serious chronic
physical conditions such as asthma, chronic back pain, digestive disorders, ulcers,
migraines, chronic muscular tension, hypertension and other cardiac conditions, skin
disorders, and sexual dysfunction. |
