Managing Stress on Your Own

        Try structuring a little time in your day to be still,
         to simply observe the present moment,
         without thinking or analyzing,
         try just being in the present moment through paying attention to your sense modalities
         (especially sounds, kinesthetic, and olfactory)

PRESENT MOMENT EXPERIENCE

For the next few minutes, become comfortable,
     as comfortable as possible
It’s easier to shut out distractions if you close your eyes,
so, if you like, you can close your eyes now

Feel your tensions fade away
Allow your body to sink into the chair
Feeling the weight of your body on the chair

Sense the air as it touches your skin
Feel your feet resting on the floor,
and, listen to the sounds around you

Listen as far away as you can hear
Listening and staying still,

Become aware of your breathing,
of the in and out of your breath.
Simply watch as your lungs work

Become aware of this present moment

Know that your everyday life will be waiting for you when you return,
But, for now, simply exist in this present moment.
      Breathing in and breathing out,
                  your weight on the chair,
                  the air touching your skin,
                  the sounds of life all around you.

       Breathing in and breathing out,
       Breathing in and breathing out.

 

So, now you can bring your conscious awareness back to this room.
Take a deep breath, stretch a bit if you like and
when you’re ready, you can open your eyes
